There's something incredibly satisfying about taking dozens of pages of content and turning them into a publication that people actually want to read.

During my time at Harry Norman Realtors, I had the opportunity to curate and design the company's quarterly digital magazine, a publication distributed to more than 25,000 readers throughout the Southeast. Each issue showcased everything from luxury real estate and market trends to community spotlights, lifestyle features, and company news, all while maintaining the elevated look and feel that Harry Norman is known for.

Editorial Design That Tells a Story

A great magazine is more than a collection of articles. Every page should guide the reader naturally from one story to the next while reinforcing the overall brand experience.

For each issue, I was responsible for developing the visual direction of the publication from beginning to end. That included creating page layouts, establishing typographic hierarchy, selecting and editing photography, designing custom graphics, and ensuring every spread felt cohesive. My goal was always to balance beautiful design with readability, creating an editorial experience that was engaging without overwhelming the content.

Bringing a Luxury Brand to Life

Harry Norman has built its reputation around exceptional service and luxury real estate, so every design decision needed to support that brand identity.

Working alongside the marketing team and company leadership, I translated a wide variety of content into polished, professional layouts that felt refined, approachable, and easy to navigate. Whether highlighting a stunning property, showcasing market insights, or featuring local businesses, every article was designed to feel intentional and visually compelling.

The Process Behind Every Issue

Creating a quarterly publication requires equal parts creativity and organization. Each magazine involved:

  • Developing editorial layouts and page concepts

  • Establishing clear typography and visual hierarchy

  • Curating photography and supporting imagery

  • Designing custom illustrations, icons, and infographics

  • Maintaining consistent brand standards throughout the publication

  • Collaborating with marketing, writers, and stakeholders

  • Preparing the final interactive digital publication for distribution

The challenge wasn't simply making the magazine look beautiful—it was creating a reading experience that encouraged readers to continue exploring page after page.

Why Editorial Design Matters

Whether it's a digital magazine, annual report, catalog, or company publication, strong editorial design helps transform information into a compelling story. Good design creates trust, strengthens brand recognition, and makes even complex content easier to understand.

Designing Harry Norman's quarterly magazine reinforced my love for editorial design and long-form storytelling. It's a discipline that combines strategic thinking, branding, typography, and visual communication into one cohesive experience, something I continue to bring into every publication and print project I create today.
